I got this letter containing really bad news from AIDS Services of Austin:

Dear Friends,

Yesterday afternoon I received notice that AIDS Services of Austin is one of the 18 agencies to be eliminated as a United Way Greater Austin (UWGA) partner.  The call came after UWGA recognized it would not be able to raise the funds needed to award the 18 agencies the grant funds previously committed.  As you can imagine, it is with a heavy-heart that we see this partnership come to a close.  

Bill McKibben, noted climate change activist and director of 350.org has responded to the recent spate of abnormal weather with an alarming article in Rolling Stone which he calls, “the most important thing [he’s] written in many years.”  Though it is long, it is well worth the read, even if its terrifying.

When experienced teachers, experts in education and public school finance, and even students say there's too much testing in public schools, it's time for lawmakers to take note.

With the help of the infamous Yes Lab the oft-controversial environmental organization Greenpeace and members of the Occupy Wall Street movement have launched a viral negative ad campaign against the Dutch oil giant Shell. The group staged a fake gala at Seattle's Space Needle to "celebrate Shell’s era-defining Arctic drilling".

President Barack Obama made a series of fundraising stops in Texas yesterday, including a lunch in San Antonio with Mayor Joaquin Castro and Eva Longoria, and a rally at Austin Music Hall with Jerry Jeff Walker. It was clear from the size and enthusiasm of the crowds that Texas Democrats are excited to work hard to re-elect the President. It was plainly evident from President Obama's speech in Austin that he's fired up and ready to go.

I want my congressperson to have a good insurance plan. I do not want my congressperson worried about his/her health or the health of his/her family. If my congressperson does not have to worry about his/her healthcare, he/she should be clear of mind to create policies that are beneficial to the middle class.

The TDP is coming out swinging - much like President Obama - again Romney for his awful record at Bain Capital and his shameful lying about it.

Austin- Timed with President Obama's visit to our state, the Republican Party of Texas uploaded an inflammatory video in which a donkey that portrays President Obama is asked for his papers. Meanwhile, Republican Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney refuses to release his tax records.

President Barack Obama is making what will likely be his last fundraising swing before November through Central Texas today, with stops in San Antonio and Austin.
