This morning Wendy Davis was featured in a Today Show segment on women and financial challenges.
NBC correspondent Maria Shriver interviewed Senator Davis at the trailer park where she lived as a single mother, the community college where she began earning a degree, and finally at the Texas Capitol building where she filibustered abortion restrictions this summer.
"I'm not an overnight sensation," Senator Davis told Shriver. "I'm a Texan, and I'm a Texas success story. I am the epitome of hard work and optimism."
The segment focused on Wendy Davis' journey from a young mother living in poverty to a Harvard Law graduate to a candidate for Texas governor. Although she was able to seize educational opportunities, Davis told Shriver that she worries that young Texans have fewer options and resources.
