The White House confirmed today that President Obama will veto Congressional legislation designed to greenlight construction of the Keystone XL pipeline, the contentious project first proposed six years ago to carry more than 800,000 barrels per day of Canadian oilsands crude from Alberta to refineries and export facilities along the Gulf of Mexico.

On Tuesday, Governor Jay Nixon shone a brief light of sanity on the gun debate playing out in the US when he vetoed a bill allowing teachers to carry weapons to school.

There is a bill in the New Jersey legislature that would legalize marijuana use and subject it to taxation, but Governor Chris Christie has signaled that he will veto the bill if it passes. But looking at Colorado's track record and windfall tax receipts, one must ask the question, "why?"

The White House is threatening to veto the House version of two incredibly controversial legislative pushes: the $100-billion-per-year farm bill and a measure to ban all abortions after 20 weeks.

The Governor loves those vetoes! He CVd the Port Authority Transparency and Accountability bill, prime sponsored by Senator Bob Gordon and me in the Senate, and my colleagues, Assemblywoman Valerie Huttle and Assemblyman Gordon Johnson in the Assembly. He "re-wrote" the bill to include such autonomous agencies as the Passaic Valley Sewer Commission. I certainly can't imagine that this was another very cynical move by Governor Christie.
