CBO Predicts US Deficit Will Plummet but Republican Austerity Obsession Shows No Sign of Waning
Republicans are determined to "fix" everything except what is really wrong with America. While trying yet again to repeal Obamacare and obsessing over every imagined scandal in the book they are refusing to pass a jobs bill to provide relief to working Americans. Worse yet is their obsession with the deficit. Sadly for Republicans, that "crisis" is over.

America's Governors Reveal Remarkable Lack of Diversity

America's Governors Reveal Remarkable Lack of Diversity

GOP Seeks Alternative to Private Sector Overtime Pay

GOP Seeks Alternative to Private Sector Overtime Pay
It seems like a simple proposition: give employees who work more than 40 hours a week the option of taking paid time off instead of overtime pay. The choice already exists in the public sector. Federal and state workers can save earned time off and use it weeks or even months later to attend a parent-teacher conference, care for an elderly parent or deal with home repairs.
Republicans in Congress are pushing legislation that would extend that option to the private sector. They say that would bring more flexibility to the workplace and help workers better balance family and career.

The Republican Rape Comment That Just Won't Die

The Republican Rape Comment That Just Won't Die
Once is a slip, an uniformed comment. Twice is a troubling pattern, but perhaps just two outliers. A third crazy rape statement makes it pretty hard to explain away. The last thing Republicans needed as March rolled around was more fuel for the rape comment fire.

The Biggest Republican Lie — ‘America Is Broke’

The Biggest Republican Lie — ‘America Is Broke’
The big lie in American politics today is that “America is broke” or “in this time of austerity we have to tighten our belts.” America is not broke. We are not in a time of “scarcity” and when we buy into this fallacy, we contribute to political decisions that actually will do damage to our standard of living and that of our children.

Two Peas in a Pod: Republican Greed and the Perry Creed

Two Peas in a Pod: Republican Greed and the Perry Creed
Fresh off entering the Republican primary as a conservative "savior" and alternative to Mitt Romney, Perry eventually made a total fool of himself. It's what Republicans do best: denying hope for the working poor and the elderly, all the while calling for those with the least to sacrifice the most so that they do not have to.
