Romney Also Doing Damage Cleanup After Threats to Downsize FEMA

Here's a stormy, relevant and current reason to not vote for Mitt Romney. He wants to decentralize America's disaster management and throw senior responsibilities to the states.
Essentially, he wants to gut FEMA-which of course worked so well for President Bush.
Bush neglected FEMA, put a horse-guy in charge and then Hurricane Katrina happened. In the words of another Republican from Texas-oops.
So now we have Mitt Romney attempting to backpedal from comments he made during one of those numerous Republican primary debates this year.

FEMA Update on Hurricane Sandy

The latest FEMA update call at 2:30 said Sandy is speeding up as it hits the warm Gulf Stream.  This means the storm is gaining energy.  Landfall is estimated to be between 7-8PM tonight.  It will come across New Jersey and come across southern Pennsylvania.  The hardest hit counties are going to be Philadelphia, Delaware, Chester, York, Adams and Franklin, the southern tier.  The storm will slow down once it hits land.  It is expected to sit over us.

Global Insurers Call BS On Climate Deniers

I live in South Jersey, so yeah, Sandy is about to make my life uh interesting.
So before the power/interweb goes out let me reiterate a point that is not made often enough in the climate change debate - Big Business is not united in their denialism.
One sector that is particularly immune to fossil fuel propaganda is the global insurance and reinsurance industry - because unlike consumers or politicians they are on the hook when the reality of Climate Change strikes.

Obama's Message On Hurricane Sandy

President Obama discusses preparations for Hurricane Sandy before it makes landfall along the East Coast. "This is a serious and big storm. And my first message is to all the people across the Eastern seaboard, Mid-Atlantic, going north, that you need to take this very seriously and follow the instructions of your state and local officials, because they are going to be providing you with the best advice in terms of how to deal with this storm over the coming days."
