Why the Gun Safety Laws Made in Colorado Stayed in Colorado

Why the Gun Safety Laws Made in Colorado Stayed in Colorado
Almost unnoticed, something remarkable happened in Colorado over the last month: The common sense gun safety regulations passed in the wake of the Aurora and Newtown massacres survived despite attempts to overturn them. Once again, Colorado’s legislature has achieved what Congress could not. The gun safety laws made in Colorado have stayed in Colorado.

GOPer: ‘Maybe A Good Thing’ Aurora Shooter Had 100-Round Mag
Herpin was trying to make a point, not wholly inaccurate, that some of the cheaper civilian-grade high capacity drum magazines aren't very reliable. But the idea that anyone would count on product defects to protect the public in an actual shooting is, of course, ludicrous beyond words.

Jersey City Mayor Fires Back at Gun Fanatics Who Invoke Holocaust in Name of Second Amendment

Jersey City Mayor Fires Back at Gun Fanatics Who Invoke Holocaust in Name of Second Amendment
Many conservatives have invoked Holocaust comparisons - and claimed that if European Jews only had guns in the 1930's and 1940's there would have never been a Holocaust - when it comes to any effort to implement new gun control laws.  This time, the focus of their anger is Jersey City mayor Steven Fulop, himself a grandchild of Holocaust survivors.
Mayor Fulop's offense is that he supports a measure which would require gun vendors that seek contracts with Jersey City to fill out

After Sandy Hook: Why Gun Supporters Are as Fervent and Steadfast as Ever

After Sandy Hook: Why Gun Supporters Are as Fervent and Steadfast as Ever
At about this time last year, 20 six- and seven-year-old children, along with six adult school staff members were murdered in the town of Sandy Hook by the mentally disturbed son of a Connecticut gun lover — whose last gift to her overtly troubled son was a check intended for the purchase of a CZ 83 pistol. In Missouri and across the country, gun advocates are holding onto their firearms tighter than they ever have before.

Liberals, Take Note: Dems Ran on Gun Control in VA and Won
Just when it had become clear from the Colorado recalls that the NRA and its allies had scared Democrats around the land from ever mentioning guns again, it seems that not all the votes had been counted.

Gun Advocates Appeal 'Firearms Freedom Act' Ruling

Gun Advocates Appeal 'Firearms Freedom Act' Ruling
Gun advocates asked the U.S. Supreme Court on Monday to overturn a lower court's ruling against state laws designed to buck federal gun rules. Earlier this year, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a district judge's decision against the 2009 Montana Firearms Freedom Act. The law attempts to declare that federal firearms regulations don't apply to guns kept in the state where they were manufactured.

Shooting Victims Line Up to Protect New Colorado Gun Laws

Shooting Victims Line Up to Protect New Colorado Gun Laws
Maybe the most dangerous place in Colorado to support gun-control is at the state capitol. After helping pass modest new gun laws, two senators were recalled in special elections and the “gunnies” are working to recall another senate supporter now. So a coalition of gun-control supporting groups held a news conference at the capitol Monday morning to remind shaky legislators why they voted for the gun laws in the first place.

Gun Rights Activists Politicize the Alamo for the First Time in Over a Century
Since its founding as the symbol of Texas independence, the Alamo was a political-free zone. The historic site where 200 Texans fended off — and ultimately died during — a siege by the Mexican army has been a place for universal remembrance, not political action. This all changed on Saturday when hundreds of gun rights activists charged the Alamo.

CA Gov Brown Signs Nearly 90 Percent of Bills, Vetoes Gun Safety Measures
While the odds have been better for Democratic legislation under Gov. Brown than the previous administration, some Democratic legislators have been a little frustrated with Gov. Brown's vetoes of major legislation. With that being said, the two year session that ended last year ended up with the Governor vetoing about 13 percent of the 1,866 bills that reached his desk.
