As If Fracking Wasn't Bad Enough, It May Also Release Dangerous Radiation Into Local Aquifers

As If Fracking Wasn't Bad Enough, It May Also Release Dangerous Radiation Into Local Aquifers
Once touted as the answer to U.S. energy consumers' dreams, it is beginning to look like the natural gas extraction process known as "fracking" may be as much of an environmental obscenity as the name suggests. From poisoned wells to frackquakes, methane release to quality of life drains, hydraulic fracturing hasn't been all it was cracked up to be. So why not add a little radiation to the mix?

No Hemming and Hawing from This Party's Opposition to Oil and Gas Pipelines
It has been difficult for those fighting the proposed New England expansion of the Tennessee Gas Pipeline, especially when it comes to educating the public and lobbying policy-makers. It seems impossible to get a clear message from elected representatives on where they stand on the issue. However, one small — but active and well organized — party has shown how to come out and condemn the continued subsidization of fossil fuels.

NASA Will Soon Find Out Exactly How Man-Made All that Global Warming Actually Is

NASA Will Soon Find Out Exactly How Man-Made All that Global Warming Actually Is
Five years after a NASA satellite to track carbon dioxide plunged into the ocean after liftoff, the space agency is launching a carbon copy — this time on a different rocket. The $468 million mission is designed to study the main driver of climate change emitted from smokestacks and tailpipes. Some of the carbon dioxide is sucked up by trees and oceans, and the rest is lofted into the atmosphere, trapping the sun's heat and warming the planet.

Scientific Consensus on Global Warming Not a 'Liberal Plot,' Obama Says in Speech
In a speech to the League of Conservation Voters, President Obama had a few choice words to say to our do-nothing Congress, some of whom refuse to believe climate change exists. It's science, he said, very much not a "liberal plot."

We Trust Surgeons, Plumbers and Other Experts, but Why Turn a Blind Eye to Climate Scientists?

We Trust Surgeons, Plumbers and Other Experts, but Why Turn a Blind Eye to Climate Scientists?
Conservatives are afraid that if they admit that global warming is happening and that we can do something about it, that would mean more public spending, more public regulations, the American public operating through our government to save the future of our society. That is correct, unless they can develop workable non-governmental methods to accomplish the same goals. They don’t think they can, so they close their eyes and repeat “la-la-la-la” as loud as they can.

Wait, What? SCOTUS Sides with Progressives on EPA Regulations
On Monday, in one of those infamous "5-4" decisions, the Supreme Court signaled something of a change in the weather. This time, the "five" sided with progressive interests rather than against. The question was whether or not the (Bush administration) EPA would be allowed to impose regulations controlling greenhouse gasses.

Koch Zero: Environmental Groups on Offensive After Big Oil's Defeat of Wind Production Tax Credit
The Sierra Club has announced that they are launching an ad campaign in hopes of garnering public support for an extension of the Wind Production Tax Credit. The successful credit program expired after it fell into the crosshairs of the Koch brothers, who vowed to make the tax credit “so toxic that it makes it impossible for John Boehner to sit at a table with Harry Reid and say, ‘Yeah, I can bend on this one.”

Does Obama Ever Want to 'Go Off' on Climate Deniers? 'Absolutely,' says Commander in Chief

Does Obama Ever Want to 'Go Off' on Climate Deniers? 'Absolutely,' says Commander in Chief
You’re not the only one who gets frustrated when John Boehner, Marco Rubio and others in Congress turn a blind eye to devastating, scientific evidence regarding climate change. In an interview with Thomas L. Friedman scheduled to air as part of the final episode of "Years of Living Dangerously," President Barack Obama revealed that he’s really no different than many of us when it comes to climate deniers.
