The National Security Agency's metadata – the information gleaned from indiscriminate trolling of the nation's communication networks – is being used in the United States' drone program. The near constant revelations of new, and possibly illegal, uses of that metadata have rocked the NSA in the last year.

A story released by the UK Independent reports that the British government has a Middle East Internet Surveillance Base that essentially taps underwater fiber-optic cables. Edward Snowden was immediately blamed for the potential threat to national security, but he denied any involvement with the Independent. So...did the UK leak this themselves?
