Compared to William Livingstone, the first governor of the state of New Jersey in 1776, Chris Christie is a far cry from what the founders intended, with powers well beyond what the state constitution had ever envisioned.

Chris Christie decided last year to slash the budget, and in so doing stole near a billion dollars from the state's union's pensions. In a decision Monday, Judge Mary Jacobson said that was totally fine (given the budget shortfall, which Christie caused, duh). Unions plan on appealing the ruling.

Already embroiled in a criminal probe over lane closures at the George Washington Bridge, Gov. Chris Christie's administration is facing an investigation over a second bridge.

The Supreme Court on Monday left in place a ban on sports gambling in New Jersey, rebuffing an attempt to bring betting on professional and college sporting events to Atlantic City casinos and the state's racetracks. The state's appeal was led by Gov. Chris Christie and it argued that New Jersey was trying to limit illegal sports wagering and capture some of that money for the state treasury. New Jersey says an estimated $500 billion is bet illegally on sporting events each year.

Over the past week, Gov. Christie has been in Camden twice, once to tout the new police force as a policy model, and once in support of education changes. In doing so, there have been a lot of numbers thrown around regarding the new police force, some optimistic, and indicate the force is downgrading arrests. But none of these pieces has pointed out the obvious; Camden faced a violent crime epidemic in part because of layoffs caused by municipal cuts by Gov. Christie.

There is a bill in the New Jersey legislature that would legalize marijuana use and subject it to taxation, but Governor Chris Christie has signaled that he will veto the bill if it passes. But looking at Colorado's track record and windfall tax receipts, one must ask the question, "why?"

Ralph Reed’s Faith and Freedom Coalition announced that Gov. Chris Christie will speak at its “Road to Majority” conference this month, where perhaps Reed can offer the embattled governor advice on how to downplay scandals.

Newark high school students staged an all-night sit-in at the Board of Education on Tuesday into Wednesday. They came with a list of demands for Cami Anderson, including her immediate resignation, but Chris Christie appointee wasn't interested. The students stayed at the meeting much longer than she did.

Faced with an $800 million budget deficit and falling revenue projections, Christie slashed $900 million from a $1.6 billion pension contribution the state is required to make by June 30 under state statute.

Last week, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie became the second governor in the country's history to preside over six downgrades of the state's credit rating. Naturally, Christie blamed the pensions and that none of the other governors had to pay into the contractual obligation. This is, of course, not true. You are, of course, not surprised.
