Anti-Choice Zealots Say Their Own Actions Are Reason Enough to Keep North AL's Lone Clinic Closed

Anti-Choice Zealots Say Their Own Actions Are Reason Enough to Keep North AL's Lone Clinic Closed
Here's your logic: block the sidewalks, bus in scores of children, bellow at passersby through a bullhorn, and assault clinic escorts...and then complain about the "tension and violence" associated with the clinic. That's the noise clamoring out of the anti-choice movement of Huntsville, Alabama, as the zoning board heard their last-ditch effort to keep North Alabama's lone women's clinic from opening a new location.

Can't Change That Channel: The Comcast-Time Warner Merger and Oligarchy

Can't Change That Channel: The Comcast-Time Warner Merger and Oligarchy
The proposed merger of Comcast and Time Warner would create a "telecommunications colossus the likes of which the country has not seen since 1984 when the government forced the breakup of the original AT&T telephone monopoly," according to the New York Times. While it would inevitably squeeze more money out of an already overcharged consumer, the merger could also limit the ability of internet start-ups to find footing or alternative voices to find a podium.

Fear and Loathing in Huntsville: Anti-Choice Protestors Target Hospitals in Alabama

Fear and Loathing in Huntsville: Anti-Choice Protestors Target Hospitals in Alabama
Anti-choice protestors are increasing in intensity and expanding their presence in the Alabama city of Huntsville. For over a year, they've staked out the Alabama Women's Center and provided sidewalk counseling that takes the form of prayers (through a bullhorn), shouting, graphic signs, and songs (like the unforgettable hit, "Happy Birthday, Dead Baby"). The billions they dump into the political coffers of the right, they’ll tell you, are to further what they call “free enterprise” and, more generally, “freedom."

CO Governor Hickenlooper Joined Planned Parenthood's 'Ask Mitt' Rally on Eve of Debate

Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper, never one to identify himself too closely with controversial or partisan causes, gave a short speech defending a woman's right to choose Tuesday afternoon at a rally organized by Planned Parenthood ahead of Wednesday night's first presidential debate here.
A late addition to the slate of speakers at the group's "Ask Mitt" rally on the Auraria Campus, Hickenlooper criticized Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, who stated earlier this year that he wanted to "get rid of" Planned Parenthood.

Ryan and Romney Agree on Personhood, Endorse Different Approaches

Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan are both apparently for personhood laws, belief that life begins when a sperm enters egg, which would ban some forms of birth control, as well as all abortion, even after rape or incest.
Paul Ryan co-sponsored federal personhood legislation that grants "all the legal and constitutional attributes and privileges" to fertilized eggs (or "zygotes").
Romney is also a supporter of personhood, but he has said he's against a federal personhood law, like the one Ryan co-sponsored.
