Jon Stewart tackled the sale of Al Gore's Current TV to Al Jazeera on Thursday night, noting the story had all the makings of a perfect storm for Fox News.
"Former Democratic Vice President turned climate-change crusader sells openly liberal channel to a muslim?" Stewart quipped. "Ladies and gentleman, I think we have our first Fox [News] boner alert."
Stewart did concede that Fox News had a "legitimate point" about Al Gore, an outspoken environmentalist, selling his company to a state-run network financed by an oil nation. The love ended there, as he shows clips of Fox News host attacking Al Jazerra as an "anti-American" news network.
Stewart also pointed our in their rush to attack Al Jazeera, Fox News overlooked the fact that their boss, News Corp. CEO Rupert Murdoch, owns a 20 percent stake in Rotana, an Arab station co-owned by Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal. Rotana became infamous after airing Valley of the Wolves, a film that shows American soldiers massacring Iraqi civilians and stealing their organs to sell to Jews.
