Second Minneapolis Mayoral Debate

t was debate Number Two for the DFL candidates who want to be Minneapolis' next mayor. On Wednesday night, the Democrats were joined for the first time by Cam Winton, an independent candidate for mayor. Also at the forum, a newly announced candidate for mayor Jim Thomas. The debate took place at Solomon's Porch, 100 W. 46th Street, in South Minneapolis and was moderated by the League of Women Voters.

The DFL candidates, in alphabetical order, are Mark Andrew, Jackie Cherryhomes, Betsy Hodges, Don Samuels and Gary Schiff. The DFL holds its caucuses April 18th and will begin the process of endorsing one of the candidates.

On the topic of that endorsement, only Schiff said he would abide by the DFL endorsement and not run if he didn't win it. Andrew, Cherryhomes, Hodges, Samuels all gave a "we'll see" type answer. Only Thomas said he would not abide by the DFL endorsement.
