Legally Blind Michigan Supreme Court Nominee Kicks Off Campaign

Richard Bernstein for Supreme Court billboards have gone up on Woodward Avenue in Pontiac and M-59 in Pontiac, as well as on I-75 southbound in Hazel Park. Those are ones I've spotted, but have also heard that they are sprinkled along I-96 in Wayne County as well.

Bernstein, legally blind, is a high-profile attorney and past Wayne State University Governor nominated by the Michigan Democratic Party to one of three Michigan Supreme Court seats this year.

He is seeking one of the two full, eight-year terms, along with Democratic-nominated Bill Murphy, Republican-nominated incumbent Brian Zahra and James Robert Redford, as well as Natural Law-nominated Doug Dern.

Judge Deborah Thomas is the Democratic nominee for the partial term up this fall, facing off against Republican-nominated incumbent David Viviano and Libertarian-nominated Kerry Morgan.
