Republican Likens Reforming Social Security and Medicare to Robbing Banks

Outgoing Rep David Dreier (R-California), the retiring chairman of the powerful House Rules Committee, lamented that the fiscal cliff bill passed in both the Senate and the House on Tuesday night was not the "grand bargain" he would have liked to achieve.

He also parroted Republican talking points about entitlement reform, which he likened to robbing banks.

"As Willie Sutton said, he robbed banks because that's where the money is," Dreier said. "We know entitlement reform is going to be essential if we are going to be able to get our fiscal house in order."
