Jon Stewart: NRA Ad One Big 'Elaborate, Avant-Guard' Joke

On Wednesday, The Daily Show host Jon Steward took issue with the NRA's new ad, which calls President Obama a "hypocrite" because his kids are protected by Secret Service agents, a policy they say he opposes (despite his proposal to provide money to schools for increased security).

"Why does he get to veto bills and command and army when we don't?" quipped Stewart.

“I swear to you, if I didn’t know any better, and I’m not a big conspiracy guy, after seeing that ad, I would think the NRA is either an elaborate, avant-garde, Joaquin Phoenix-style joke, or a false flag operation run by Michael Moore in an attempt to discredit responsible gun owners."

Stewart also noted it was interesting that Obama simply responded to the NRA's attack ad by suggesting most gun owners agree we can take steps to curb gun violence while protecting the rights of the Constitution.

"“I thought he was gonna go with, ‘If you bring up my kids again, I will drone strike your shit to kingdom come,’” said Stewart.
