Is Congressman Ben Chandler Taking Orders From His Republican Opponent Garland "Andy" Barr?

Is Democratic Congressman Ben Chandler taking orders from his Republican opponent, Garland “Andy” Barr, in Kentucky's 6th congressional district? Maybe, maybe not. But one thing for sure. Democratic Congressman Ben Chandler did exactly what Republican Garland “Andy” Barr requested him to do.

Wednesday, June 27, 2012 Garland “Andy” Barr had this to say on his website: “I urge Ben Chandler to stand with his constituents by voting to cite Eric Holder in contempt of Congress.” See the full text below:

Garland “Andy” Barr
Barr to Chandler: “Kentuckians Deserve the Truth from Eric Holder”
Wednesday, June 27th

LEXINGTON, KY – Andy Barr, candidate for Congress in Kentucky’s Sixth Congressional District, today urged U.S. Rep. Ben Chandler to vote in favor of a measure citing U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress.  Attorney General Holder has failed to comply with a congressional subpoena for the production of documents.  The requested documents relate to the “Fast and Furious” affair, wherein the U.S. Department of Justice's Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives knowingly allowed the indirect sale of firearms to Mexican drug cartels.  These weapons were later discovered at the scene of the murder of a U.S. Border Patrol Agent.

“The 'Fast and Furious' scandal offers a troubling insight into the Obama Administration's judgment and priorities,” Barr said.  “Regardless of the Administration’s motives behind this ill-conceived program, Kentuckians deserve the truth from Eric Holder.  When our own Justice Department floods Mexico with guns and one of our border patrol agents dies, the Attorney General has no business playing games with a legitimate congressional request for information.

“I urge Ben Chandler to stand with his constituents by voting to cite Eric Holder in contempt of Congress.”

Thursday June 28, 2012 Democratic Congressman Ben Chandler did exactly what his Republican opponent requested, he voted Eric Holder in contempt of Congress.

So can we conclude Democratic Congressman Ben Chandler is taking orders from his Republican opponent Garland “Andy” Barr? Maybe, but it could also be Democratic Congressman Ben Chandler was repaying NRA for their $9950 donations to his campaigns and for his NRA "A" rating.

As a Democrat I find Ben Chandler's actions very disturbing. Will Congressman Ben Chandler campaign for Barack Obama in 2012 like he did in 2008, or will Congressman Ben Chandler, like many elected Kentucky Democrats, distance themselves from the Democratic nominee for President, Barack Obama? It will be very interesting to see if Ben Chandler has any re-elect Barack Obama signs at his campaign headquarters.

Where is the Congressman Ben Chandler that said this April 29, 2008?
"I want you to know that I am very pleased to be here today to express my support and my firm endorsement of Senator Barack Obama to be the next President of the United States."

Where is the Congressman Ben Chandler that said this May 12, 2008?
"I endorsed Barack Obama and I'm proud that I did."

In closing, it's my hope the above videos, we shot, don't embarrass Congressman Ben Chandler, but help him examine his political allegiance.

How about it Congressman Ben Chandler are you with us, or are you with your Republican opponent Garland “Andy” Barr?
