When we last left off in this continuing Cooked Books series, The Party Of Fiscal Irresponsibility had just turned down an offer to pay for a forensic audit of their books.
Seriously.
The "Offer" and "Offer Withdrawn" of an audit that wouldn't cost the Book Cookers a penny came after - AFTER - Minnesota Campaig...
(photo courtesy of Jack Tomczak, via Twitter) Last Friday night (08 Feb 2013), yours truly, the ol' TwoPutter, was invited by Jack Tomczak & Ben Kruse to be on Late Debate to discuss guns with Andrew Rothman, who is with Minnesota Gun Owners Civil Rights Alliance. So I tossed on a shirt that's g...
I saw the tweet, way late last night while snowplowing:
What??!? Let's look at that again:
"January gun death toll: 40 in Gun free Chicago. 0 in gun-toting Tampa. #stribpol"
No gun deaths in Tampa, for a whole month??!?
Having lived in Tampa, I just knew that couldn't be true. Especially coming from The Gas Bag Of The Midway.
So I get home, a...
Look closely, to the picture to the right: "legal to own and use."
What that stock does, is change a semi-automatic weapon into what I refer to as a "loop-hole legal machine gun."
Now, I'm not going to get into a circular argument about definitions; about what a "machine gun" & "sub-machine gu...
..."Money Down The Rathole!"
OK, deeply in debt, The Party Of Cooked Books sent out a tweet: "The MN DFL Chairman bragged that "never before has our party been more powerful." Fight back! bit.ly/W3GQac #mngop #mnleg #stribpol". That link in that tweet? Takes folks to the MnGOP's website (screenshot is to the right), where they're ask...
The picture to the right is Rep Tony Cornish, R=NRA, taken by Jim Ragsdale, a Capitol Reporter for the StarTribune. Yes, Cornish in addition to his usual lapel cuffs, Cornish now has a sporting new NRA tie and new bling, too: an assault weapon a loop-hole legal machine gun. That pic...
"No comment." Well, to be completely accurate, here's what it says in the Star Tribune story "Amy Koch: Affair gave GOP foes an opportunity; Ex-Senate leader accuses some of her most trusted allies of back-stabbing, lies.": "Hann declined to comment for the story,...".
Now, to me, The Sacking Of Amy Koch - a/k/a, "The Pew d' Etat" - is NOT a scandal about sex, as salacious as s...
RIP, Karl. You will be missed.
Avidor writes here: Dump Michele Bachmann: Karl Bremer 1952 - 2013 ...
I carry a card in my wallet; it's a little larger than a business card. The front shows some Founding Father types gathered, discussing trophies mounted on the wall - "bear arms." Not a trophy buck; not some exotic trophy brought back from an African safari, not... well, not "whatever." They're "bear arms." And I whip it out whenever some gun nut (often, with a tin-foil lined cammo hunting/military cap) starts to go ballistic about liberals/leftists/social...
The image to the right is from Republican David Hann's campaign website (link here for full view). It seems in May 2010, Hann held a Press Conference announcing the beginnings of an ethics complaint about a DFLer who had ethics problems -- and is now out of office. This image of Hann's website shows links t...
And it's taught at The University of North Texas by Professor Joseph Klein!
Here's the deal - Professor Klein teaches a class on Zappa's music, and Mothers alumni Tommy Mars and Arthur Barrow participated in a concert with the students last spring; here's the cut 'n paste from the University's website:
(image via Guitar Player Magazine, January 1977 interview through the link) "Zappadan" commemorates the late composer/producer/musician Frank Zappa; it runs from December 4th - the day of Frank's death in 1993 - to December 21st - the day of Frank's birth, in 1940. A list of previous posts referencing Frank is...
... a report of Frank's death on MTV.
Frank Zappa, American Composer, was born in Baltimore on December 20th, 1940 and "departed on his final tour" December 4th, 1993. Zappa fans consider the period between December 4th and the 21st as "Zappadan" - a period (apostrophe?) to celebrate Frank's life and accomplishments.
And there were many. In the YouTube that follows, you'll watch a reference to Frank's political involvement, and his ba...
Last week, we discussed Verified Twitter Accounts - specifically, that Minnesota Supreme Court Justice G. Barry Anderson had one. On Monday, we looked at Chief Justice Lorie Gildea's expenses on her Campaign Finance Reports ("CFB") for her campaign website - well, specifically, the lack thereof.
Today, we're going to look at website expenses for the campaign of Supreme Court Justice G. Barry Anderson - and several other prominent Republicans. We'll start with one such prominent Republican, the soon-to-be former GOP Senate Caucus Leader Dave Senjem.
Last week, we discussed Verified Twitter Accounts - specifically, that Minnesota Supreme Court Justice G. Barry Anderson had one, and we were looking at his re-election Campaign Finance Reports. And we are; stay tuned for what's turned up! While doing so, we also took a look at two of the other candidates for re-election to the Supreme Court - Justice David Stras, who also had a Twitter Verified Account, and Chief Justice Lorie Gildea, who didn't. Something stuck out while going through Chief Justice Gildea's reports - by omission.
Regular Readers will probably remember yours truly, the ol' TwoPutter, had media credentials for the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte. And we had a LOT of fun covering Charlotte 2012, beginning with finding fake lemons in the tree outside of failed Veep Candidate Paul Ryan's WI Office. While in the media area of Charlotte 2012, I happened across the Twitter Office of, well, Twitter -
The election is over; legislative sessions don't start until early January 2013 in St. Paul; it's time to catch up on some non-political stuff. On facebook, I saw a story, which I'll get to in a moment. But first, a little story of my own.
Back in the day, I spent a couple of years "coaching" golf at a school. Really, it was more like introducing kids that didn't play to the game; the kids that could and did play regularly were involved in PGA (Professio...
The scandal plagued Republican State Senator from Eden Prairie, David Hann, was elected by his fellow Senate Republicans to lead their Caucus as Minority Leader. No surprise there! Beginning in January 2011, when the Senate Republicans took over, it has been scandal after scandal after scandal by these Republican scoundrels.
This is not a story about Amy Koch, Michael Brodkorb, and/or sex. Yes, it's a scandal, but not because it's scandalous/slalacious - it's a scandal because four Republican State Senators called the media to attend a press conference in December of 2011, smiled at the camera -- and one of them, for sure, proceeded to lie through his teeth. How do we know this?
Because just a few weeks later, he tried to explain it away by basically claiming
I called the Eden Prairie Chamber of Commerce today. Their Communications Manager, Samantha Dummel, answered. Asked her when the Chamber was going to announce their endorsements for City Council, State House & Senate, and Congress. She passed me off to the Chamber President, Pat MulQueeney - voice mail left. Followed up with an email; let's look!
Mr. MulQueeney,
My name is Tommy Johnson; I'm a blogger and resident of Eden Prairie.
Is the EP Chamber planning to endorse for City Council, State House & Senate, and Congress this year?
If so, when are...
