The University of Phoenix disclosed late Tuesday that it may be put “on notice” by the organization that accredits the for-profit college. The school, which has more than 300,000 students nationwide, is currently undergoing a regularly scheduled review by the Higher Learning Commission. The review is expected to conclude later this year.
The new programs are the result of extensive study of student and workforce trends. In addition to the two programs that launched earlier this year, the schools plan to roll out four more degree programs – in teaching, applied science, and two yet-to-be determined areas.
The University of Phoenix plans to roll out more than 100 new partnerships with community colleges in the coming year – a strategy that, if successful, will provide a much-needed financial and reputational boost to the nation’s largest for-profit school.
