White House Adviser to Boehner: Stop Talking About Ass and Get to Work

A top White House adviser slammed House Speaker John Boehner Tuesday shortly after the Republican demanded that the Senate to ‘get off their ass’ to approve a bill to avert the deep federal budget cuts coming this week known as the sequester.

Democrats and Republicans have been tussling over how to avert the budget cuts set to start Friday that were enacted as a sort of “doomsday device” as part of the budget battle of 2011.

“We have moved a bill in the House twice. We should not have to move a third bill before the Senate gets off their ass and begins to do something,” Boehner says.

White House adviser David Plouffe was quick to respond via Twitter.

“Boehner a** talk at 11th hour not helpful. Reacquainting himself with the 800B in loopholes he believed so much in two months ago would be,” he says, referring to the amount of tax loopholes President Obama and other Democrats want to close in order to cut the federal budget deficit.

Plouffe was a top strategist in electing Obama in 2008.

Meanwhile, Boehner was sounding an aggressive tone as Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) took to the Senate floor saying “Democrats want to work with Republicans to find a balanced, responsible way to reduce the deficit.

“Unfortunately, Republicans are standing in the way of a solution. They would sacrifice 750,000 American jobs rather than ask multi-millionaires to pay a penny more,” Reid says, referring to the job losses expected if the sequester takes effect. “But three-quarters of Americans – including 56 percent of Republicans – are crying out for a balanced approach. With only three days left to protect American families and our economic recovery from this latest crisis, it’s time for Republicans to work toward a solution instead of being part of the problem.”
