Bachmann's Minnesota Business Contributions Dry Up

In theory, Bachmann's an ideal big business candidate--if all you care about is casting votes that protect big business. Her voting record is "gut the liberal state," her record of rhetoric on "protecting big business special interests" is stellar. So why has Bachmann received only $8,000 from Minnesota's corporate community this election cycle?

Romney Attempted To Defund MS Program as Governor

In July of 2003, a mere 7 months after taking office, Romney took out the hatchet.
"(10) $162,368 for the MS PASS program, so-called, as previously established at the department of public health. Said funds shall be expended to maximize matching dollars to be used for services provided by the program as managed by the Central New England chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
[The Governor disapproved this item.]"

Auto Sales Highest in Over 4 Years... Even Higher Than During 'Cash for Clunkers'

New car sales are rising. In September 2012, auto sales were at their highest level since February 2008, including August 2009 when the government’s “Cash for Clunkers” program caused a temporary spike in sales.

MI State University Study Finds 40% Of Manufacturers Are Bringing Jobs Back to the US

What does this study prove? It proves that President Obama is NOT pushing business away as the Republicans would have you believe. Why would a corporation come back to the United States when a President is so anti business?
The study found that 40 percent of manufacturing firms believe there is an increased movement of “reshoring” – or moving manufacturing plants back to the United States from countries such as China and India. While the results differed by industry, the trend was led by aerospace and defense; industrial parts and equipment; electronics; and medical and surgical supplies.

Low Pay Isn’t the Solution to Economic Problems; It’s the Cause

Unions aren’t a third party entity; they are simply a group of people who have agreed to work together. Instead of bargaining individually, they bargain collectively (that’s why the contract is called a collective bargaining agreement.) When you mock unions, you mock workers – probably workers like you – who have a skill and feel like they should make a fair wage for that skill.

Why Romney and Ryan Are Going Down

Unemployment is still above 8 percent, job gains aren’t even keeping up with population growth, the economy is barely moving forward. And yet, according to most polls, the Romney-Ryan ticket is falling further and further behind. How can this be?
Because Republicans are failing the central test of electability. Instead of putting together the largest possible coalition of voters, they’re relying largely on one slice of America — middle-aged white men — and alienating just about everyone else.

Standard & Poor's Lowers New Jersey State Credit Outlook

More bad news for New Jersey, and for Gov. Chris Christie:
The latest dose of bad news was delivered by Standard & Poor's, which Tuesday lowered its credit outlook for New Jersey from stable to negative.
While Standard & Poor's did not change the state's AA- rating - one of the worst among the states - it warned the more drastic step of a lower rating loomed if Christie's nearly 8 percent growth in revenue failed to materialize.

Want to Know Why Mitt Romney Flip Flopped on Health Care?

As Eskow says, "Unnecessary surgeries at HCA? Fraudulent billing of Medicare? Expired baby formula at Duane Read? That's the real RomneyCare." And it more than explains Romney's MA health care plan, which purposely did not contain medical costs. It also explains why even that was too much to countenance now. His new-found opposition as Obamacare is most likely attributable to the fact that it reins in the excess costs and abuse he has profited from. He may not be running Bain any more, but he still profits from a dysfunctional, fraudulent, and gouging health care system. Mitt Romney IS the problem.

Google Antitrust Settlement in Europe Would Impact US

In May, the European Commission said it was concerned that Google was favoring its own services in search, copying material from websites of competitors without permission, shutting out advertising competition and placing restrictions on the portability of online search advertising campaigns from its platform, AdWords, to the platforms of competitors. Commissioner Almunia told the company to offer changes or face a formal statement of objections with the risk of fines in the billions of dollars. In Europe antitrust penalties can be imposed before a court proceeding.
Besides the the European antitrust investigation, the Internet giant faces antitrust investigations by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission and several states. Antitrust officials in Korea, India and Brazil are also looking into Google's business practices. A European deal could well serve as a blueprint for settlements with other authorities.
