Patrick Moran Steps Down From Campaign Following O'Keefe Video

In the end, that could turn out to be the case, at least in part. But if you watch the video, which I have, it sure doesn't look good for Patrick Moran (nor can I think of any plausible explanation for his behavior here, even if he was "set up" by O'Keefe). In short, what we see and hear in the video is absolutely unacceptable - morally, of course, and maybe also legally - behavior by anyone, let alone by a Democratic campaign official, let alone by the son of a sitting Congressman, let alone by...well, you get the picture.

Foreign Policy Pre-Debate Conference Call with General Wesley Clark Was Spot-On

I was on a conference call with General Wesley Clark (ret.) and Obama for America National Press Secretary Ben LaBolt before the final Presidential Debate. Here are a few highlights.

Kaine Launches New TV Ads Aimed at Virginia Women

Press release from the Kaine campaign:
Richmond, VA - Today, Tim Kaine released a series of new television and radio ads featuring Virginia women who would be affected by George Allen's support for policies that restrict women's access to health care and deny women equal economic opportunities.
"This is Virginia. George Allen would restrict her choices," the ad says. Allen has endorsed measures that restrict access to health care like federal 'personhood' bills that could outlaw all abortions and jeopardize access to birth control, and the Blunt Amendment that would allow ...

Obama Better on Debt Than Reagan

When he claims the president has doubled the deficit, Mitt Romney is an out and out liar.
First, as the graph shows, the President has reduced the deficit. The Red column on the graph represents George W. Bush's contribution to the deficit. But serial liar Romney falsely claims Obama has doubled the deficit.  Not only has the president NOT doubled the deficit, the president has reduced it.

Obama Campaign: Romney's Etch A Sketch on Abortion Was Too Fast for His Campaign

In an interview today with the Des Moines Register editorial board, Mitt Romney said that, “there’s no legislation with regards to abortion that I’m familiar with that would become part of my agenda.”
But that statement contradicts his pledge to appoint Supreme Court justices who would overturn Roe v. Wade. And within just a couple hours of the story with Romney’s abortion comments posting, his spokesperson clarified that he would in fact support legislation to restrict a woman’s right to choose.

George Allen Praises Eric Cantor's 'Leadership' With a Straight Face

Here are a few classic (defined as "false," "absurd," "idiotic," "ridiculous") quotes from George Allen, just from this one speech. This guy's a real piece of work, that's for sure.
*"Eric Cantor, who's doing a fantastic job as a leader in the House of Representatives." Hahahaha, yeah, fantastic job leading the most unpopular, worthless House in U.S. history.
*"Talk about our positive, constructive ideas that will improve people's lives." Like, uh....and, uh...oh forget it.
*"We need to rein in the regulators, the unaccountable unelected bureaucrats who are trying to outlaw coal...

Video: President Obama is Back on the Stump and Romney is on a Skewer

By the way, if that video's not enough to boost your morale this morning after the other night's liefest by Willard, check out Gallup's approval ratings for President Obama, which just hit 54%-42%, the highest net approval rating in about 1 1/2 years. Yes, these numbers were almost all prior to last night's debate, but I'll take it!

FDR: 'Government by Organized Money is Just as Dangerous as Government by Organized Mob'

"For nearly four years you have had an Administration which instead of twirling its thumbs has rolled up its sleeves. We will keep our sleeves rolled up.
We had to struggle with the old enemies of peace-business and financial monopoly, speculation, reckless banking, class antagonism, sectionalism, war profiteering."

Statement: The Debut Of Romney's Campaign Of Specifics Was A Flop

“The debut of Mitt Romney’s new campaign of specifics was a flop. On issue after issue – from energy to spending, health care, and immigration – he did not propose a single new idea. He said he would reduce the deficit, but refused to name specific cuts he would make outside of a handful of small programs, like PBS and Amtrak. He promised to repeal Obamacare, but didn’t say how he’d cover the 89 million Americans who could be denied coverage if they have a pre-existing condition. And he said our immigration system is broken, but the only solution he’s laid out to fix it is to encourage the 11 million undocumented immigrants currently here to self-deport. If this is the new, substantive campaign Mitt Romney promised, the American people will surely be disappointed.”—Lis Smith, campaign spokewsoman

Tim Kaine: It Is 'Sad' that Crossroads GPS Launched False Attack Ads on 9/11 Anniversary

"Today is a day that all Americans stand united in the memory of those we lost on September 11, 2001 and in the years since. Their sacrifice reminds us we're not Democrats or Republicans first. We're Americans first."
