Springsteen Poll: So Many Songs, So Many Memories

"My life flows on in endless song

Above earth's lamentation

I hear the real, thought far off hymn

That hails the new creation

Above the tumult and the strife,

I hear the music ringing."

How Can I Keep From Singing (The Seeger Sessions album) - sung by Bruce Springsteen

And keep singing Bruce does. With 24 selections to choose from, the winner of this weekend's poll is "Another song" with seven votes. After 17 studio albums, this giant of an artist has brought us so many great musical numbers. There is no consensus as to which song our readers favor the most. Your choices run from anthems, to quieter songs, political ones and some that are less well known. And that is as it should be. Your comments are rightly personal: where/when you heard the song and why you like it.

Out of 22 votes cast in the poll so far, Thunder Road and Rosalita came in first with four votes each. Others received one vote each: Badlands, Glory Days, Streets of Philadelphia, Born to Run, Born in the U.S.A., Jungleland, and The Rising.

Other songs you mentioned in your comments: Ghost of Tom Joad, Because the Night, Blinded by the Light, Kitty's Back from the Wild, Fever, The Innocent, E Street Shuffle, Brothers Under the Bridge, 4th of July, Jersey Girl, Hungry Heart, Atlantic City, I'll Work for Your Love, New York City Serenade, Santa Claus, and No Surrender.

My most recent memory is of last summer going to the Stone Pony's memorial for Clarence Clemons, his tenor sax playing in the background. God bless Clarence.
