What happens when one of the Internet's most popular porn sites compares Gallup's annual survey of the "most religious cities" with its own meta-data? Alabama has a whopping three cities in a Top 10 dominated by areas throughout the South.

In the past, televangelist Pat Robertson has called tornados a sign of the "End Times," and has spoken about natural disasters resulting from things like homosexuality and people's pacts with the devil. But when it comes to tornadoes hitting Oklahoma, Robertson thinks they have less to do with God's will, and more to do with the victims choice in location.

All too frequently, religious fundamentalists of various faiths demand that everyone must follow their rules. The controversy across our states about marriage equality is a home-grown example. Citing their interpretation of the Bible, American fundamentalists want our government to enshrine their views of homosexuality into secular law.

When Lalo Alcaraz saw a tweet this week that Disney was seeking to trademark “Dia de los Muertos,” the name of the traditional “Day of the Dead” celebrated by millions in Mexico and the U.S., the Los Angeles-based cartoonist immediately pressed “retweet.”

My question is this: Why is a religious sinner labeled a hypocrite while an atheist, engaging in the same illicit behavior, is not?

The bill essentially allows overt religious expression by students at school events and prohibits teachers from penalizing students for religious views expressed in their school work.

According to Pew Research Center data on the distribution of the world's Catholic population, the largest share of the Catholic population (39 percent) lives in Latin America and the Caribbean.
