Obama on Social Security in 2007: 'I Will Not Cut' Cost-of-Living Adjustments

Last week, President Obama unveiled his budget, which angered members of his own party by including a proposal to lower cost-of-living adjustments to Social Security.

It was only back in 2007 that then-Senator Obama, campaign against Senator John McCain, drew a line in the sand when it came to cuts for Social Security:

President Obama: John McCain's campaign has gone even further, suggesting that the best answer for the growing pressures on Social Security might be to cut cost-of-living adjustments or to raise the retirement age. Now let me be clear - I will not do either.
