'Joe The Plumber' Holding AR-15 Giveaway

AP PhotoAll of America will never forget that John McCain forced Sarah Palin onto the world during his failed Presidential run in 2008. But just as we were starting to forget that McCain also gave birth to "Joe the Plumber," the failed plumber/Congressional candidate/right-wing activist is back in the news.

While many agencies across the country are promoting gun buybacks, Samuel Joe Wurzelbacher is pushing a drawing to give away a free AR-15 semi-automatic rifle.

"Despite what national news commentators say, the AR 15 is NOT an 'assault weapon' or 'weapon of mass destruction,'" Wurzelbacher writes on his website, calling the weapon a "magnificent rifle."

It appears he was inspired to hold the AR-15 giveway after posting a story about a little league baseball league in Illinois that raffled off an AR-15 to raise money for kids. "Guns are a part of the American culture," Wurzelbacher wrote, saying guns are "as American and baseball and apple pie."

Wurzelbacher ran for Congress as a Republican against Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D-OH) during the 2012 election, and was throughly trounced. Prior to that, he failed to open the plumbing business despite lower business taxes thanks to President Obama's payroll tax cuts.
