Online Census Option Targets Tablet Users, Young Adults

The Census Bureau said it is hoping to tap into the changing information habits of Americans, especially younger adults, who are increasingly turning to computers, tablets and smartphones for their communications. Over the last two censuses, the government has struggled with decreasing response rates, due to a combination of perceived inconvenience and concerns about revealing personal information in surveys.

NRA Silent on Sandy Hook Shooting Spree That Killed 20 Children


National Rifle Association (NRA) proponents did not make an appearance on the Sunday morning news shows following the tragic killing spree at an elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut Friday. The incident killed 26 people – 20 of them children. Many of the victims are remembered in a public memorial

Rupert Murdoch Calls For Ban on Assault Weapons

Rupert Murdoch, the CEO and chairman of News Corp., owners of Fox News, tweeted his support for a ban on assault weapons Saturday morning in the wake of a deadly shooting in Connecticut that left over 20 dead, mostly young kids.

CNN, Huffington Post, Slate Report Wrong Facebook Page of Alleged CT Killer

CNN, Huffington Post and Slate have all admitted they sent out the wrong Facebook page in their reporting on alleged Connected shooter Adam Lanza.
In his haste to break the story, CNN Correspondent Jim Clancy tweeted to his 20,000+ followers a link to the Facebook page of Hoboken resident Ryan Lanza, who assures his Facebook friends he's not the shooter.

FCC Clams Up on Its Own Transparency Initiative

When the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) passed a rule earlier this year to require TV stations to post political ad buying information online, public interest groups (and ProPublica) welcomed the policy as a means to get an unprecedented look at how billions of campaign dollars flow around the country.
