Daily Kos Turns 13 with Big Numbers - Delivers Hope Via Your Support

Hey, 2015 has been an incredible, record-breaking year for Daily Kos. Take a look at how big this year has been:

That surge at the end of the graph? That’s this year.

Daily Kos has broken a traffic record every single month this year—the first five months of 2015 so far are our five biggest months ever. And May 7 was our biggest day ever, with nearly two million people coming to read Daily Kos news that day.

We averaged 9.96 million unique visitors in the first four months of the year—and that average will go up by the end of May. Our previous record-setting month—set in August 2014—was 8.46 million. It’s crazy!

Today is Daily Kos’s 13th anniversary. We’ve come a long way in those 13 years—from a one-man operation to one of the biggest, most-trafficked news sites on the internet—bigger even than the websites of the Wall Street Journal, MSNBC, CBS News, ABC News, and NBC. At our current pace, we will pass Drudge Report, the kingpin of conservative online media, sometime this year! But our work’s not done yet, and we need your help to stay up and running for the next 13 years.

Can you chip in $3 to help Daily Kos keep fighting?

Daily Kos is a small organization running a very big website. We have real costs, like staff and servers, and we run everything on a $5 million annual budget.

Think about that for a minute: If every one of our nearly 10 million readers this month chipped in just $1, then we could run Daily Kos for nearly two years. This would be the last fundraising email we’d have to send until 2017!

But obviously, not every reader contributes, and not every reader is in a position financially to contribute. So, if you’re one of the lucky ones, please chip in $3 today.

Thank you and keep fighting,
Markos Moulitsas
Founder and Publisher, Daily Kos

P.S. Community support—that is, contributions from Daily Kos readers like you—makes up more than a third of annual revenue. It’s simply critical to our operations. Please chip in $3 today if you can.
