Massive Blast On The Sun

It's called a coronal mass ejection (CME) and is a massive burst of solar wind and magnetic fields rising above the solar corona or being released into space. This one happened January 31, 2013. NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory captured this footage from 10 p.m. EST on January 30, 2013, to 4 a.m. the next morning. In this video, the imaging cadence is one frame every 36 seconds.
