Amnesty Shamnesty: Republican Party Still Battling Itself Over Immigration
Republicans must do something about immigration reform now or they will find themselves speeding into another presidential election year wrestling with the same “Latino problem” that destroyed any chance for a Republican victory in the last election. Alabama's $580k Lawyer Donation
So far, Alabama State Senator Scott Beason's signature anti-immigrant legislation, HB56, has stuck the whole state in Beason lines, hurt Alabama farmers, captured foreign auto executives, stained the state's reputation around the world, and cost real money that the state does not have. The latest court settlement brings Alabama's legal costs defending the overreaching bill to over half a million dollars.

Rep Coffman to Minority Language Voters: 'Pull Out a Dictionary'
Rep. Mike Coffman has spent a great deal of time in recent months "reaching out" to the many ethnic groups in the new Sixth Congressional District, working hard to burnish his credentials with Asian and African immigrants in addition to his now-famous reversals on immigration policy – all directly intended to appease the large percentage of immigrant and ethnic minority voters in his district. Some Republicans Admit Anti-Immigrant Movement Driven By Racism
Buzzfeed’s John Stanton managed to get Republican lawmakers on record admitting that the movement to stop immigration report is at least party driven by racial animosity. One Southern Republican member of Congress, who requested anonymity, told Stanton outright that “part of it…it’s racial.” South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham put it a little more delicately, referring to “ugliness around the issue of immigration.”

Path to Citizenship Central to Border Security, Says New Homeland Security Secretary
The new Homeland Security secretary says an earned path to citizenship for the roughly 11 million immigrants living in the United States illegally is a matter of national security. Nearly Half of Country's Immigration Judges Set to Retire, Could Push Court Backlog to Brink
The nation's already backlogged immigration courts might soon be thrown into more havoc as roughly half of their 220 judges will be eligible for retirement next year. The Executive Office for Immigration Review, which oversees the nation's 59 immigration courts, says the court already has 32 vacancies, contributing to the current backlog of nearly 350,000 cases. Judges are overwhelmed, and immigrants with legitimate asylum claims can spend years in legal limbo.

A Penchant for Racist Alliteration: Tea Partier Calls TX State Sen Van de Putte 'Barrio Boopsie'
Far right blogger Rick Atkinson coined a new and offensive nickname for State Senator Leticia Van de Putte this week, calling her 'Barrio Boopsie'. Taken with University of Texas Young Republican's offensive catch-an-illegal-immigrant game, and remarks on Wendy Davis, the pattern of racist insensitivity among the flanks of the far right is indisputable and omnipresent.
