This is how you go about being "the adult." Don't bother listening when you give someone the opportunity to voice their concern. Instead, know all along that -- without worrying about the relative merits of their argument -- you're entirely right and they're entirely wrong, and that you're just letting them speak as a courtesy. Then, take actions as if they never spoke. When they become understandably upset, tsk-tsk them for displaying emotionalism. Pretend you were on the high road all along.
